Games Have Started and Results/Standings Are Posted
With the start of the season on September 12, the task of getting game results and league standings posted on the website is underway. Results from opening weekend are now available on the website. From any page on the website, you can click on the "Schedules/Results" link at the top of the page. That will take you to the main Schedules and Results page on which you can click on the link for your league. Remember that scores are not posted immediately after the game because the scorecards must first be verified. This process often takes a few days, but we will work hard to get results posted as quickly as possible.

The 2009 Season is Here
With the completion of the coaches' meetings last night, the 2009 season is officially ready to start. Coaches received their rosters, schedules and team geat last night and will start calling their players this weekend. Teams may start practices beginning August 24, and the first weekend of games is September 12. If you have not heard from a coach by August 28, please contact the league director for your player's age group. We often run into problems with contact information for a small percentage of our players, so if you have not been contacted, it may be because we have an incorrect phone number or email address.

Attend a GYS Board Meeting
Did you know that GYS Board meetings are open to the public? If you would like to learn more about GYS, find out how you can be involved, or just meet the men and women who volunteer their time to make this soccer league a reality, you are welcome to attend a Board meeting. Regular meetings are on the first and third Wednesdays of every month at 7:30, at the Crowther Teen Center in Glendora.
You can attend to observe at any regular meeting, though it would be a good idea to email the President or Vice President before coming, just to be sure that the schedule has not changed. If you want to participate in a meeting by speaking to the board to make a suggestion, raise a concern or suggest an opportunity, you must contact the President ahead of time to discuss having your item put on the agenda. Note that Board meetings are not the proper venue for protesting games or calls, or complaining about coaches or refs. There are other avenues for those kinds of communication, which you can find out about by contacting your coach or Divsion Director.

Water Restrictions and Playing Conditions in 2009
In accordance with other state and local efforts to reduce water usage, the Glendora Unified School District will be reducing water useage on school properties by 40%. This will directly impact the condition of the soccer fields that we use for GYS practices and competitions. GYS will work with the school district in whatever ways we can to maintain the quality of the playing fields while we support these reductions in water usage. Please be prepared, however, to play this year on fields that will not receive as much watering as they have in the past.
